Mapping of forest attributes using airborne laser scanning (ALS)
and artificial intelligence (AI) workshop
ForestSAT2026 Workshop Series
Workshop aim and purpose
This hands-on workshop equips participants with the knowledge and tools to access, handle, process, generate, and interpret forest attribute maps from ALS datasets.
All work is conducted in R. Through guided exercises, participants learn to use ALS data, integrate field measurements, and create maps of forest attributes,
including aboveground biomass and carbon stock, gaining insight into best practices and methodological limitations.
Schedule
February 9, 2026, 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM (EST)
Workshop Formats
Materials are provided in reproducible formats commonly used in LiDAR workflows and data science.
